Malware is software that works by entering a computer without permission and can cause damage to computer systems, servers and networks. Malware can steal data and information stored on computers as well as being the back door for hackers to enter.

According to the National Police, currently there are thousands of victims who have been infected with the Zombinder malware. Cybercriminals carry out their actions by spreading malware through fake football streaming applications named Live Football Stream 1.9 and a modified version of the Instagram application.

This malware is also claimed to be undetectable at runtime and can bypass Google Protect or Anti-Virus running on the target device.

One of the Zombinder malware infection processes, namely the malware loader, is disguised to avoid detection, so that when the victim opens the application, the loader displays a prompt to install the plugin. If the prompt is received, the loader will install a malicious payload and run it in the device's background," explained CCIC Polri.
